From concept to completion, Newport Construction delivered a 28,500-square-foot
Student Center, built from the ground up and strategically positioned along Mullica Hill Road as a vibrant focal point for the university campus. Valued at $33 million, this project exemplifies our leadership as general contractor and our commitment to precision, craftsmanship, and innovative construction solutions.
The building is defined by a striking mass timber roof that cascades along the natural slope of the site, creating a dynamic architectural form that seamlessly opens to the Campus Greenway beyond. Complementing this design is a radiant-heated exterior plaza, offering a
comfortable, year-round gathering space for students and staff. The project also features a sophisticated structural glazing façade, maximizing natural light while reinforcing a clean, modern aesthetic.
The project’s architectural excellence was recognized with the ACUI Facility Design Award, presented to ikon.5, further underscoring the strength of the collaboration and the quality
of the finished facility.
